Could Sussex finish one of the most turbulent years in their history by lifting the County Championship for the fourth time in their long history?

A lot needs to go right, not least director of cricket Paul Farbrace’s ability to make sure his players are totally focused despite all the off-field uncertainty this winter as well as being able to field his strongest team on a regular basis.

The bookies don’t see much likelihood of a first title since 2007, when Sussex finished 4.5 points in front of Durham.
