The financial straitjacket imposed by ECB that Sussex will be operating under for the next three years was outlined by chief executive Mark West at Tuesday’s AGM.
Sussex were put in special measures by the governing body in February after announcing losses of £1.33m with a points deduction across all three competitions including 12 in the County Championship.
But outlining the financial framework Sussex are expected to operate under until January 2029, West revealed that the county will not be able to sign a men’s player until then unless it is ratified by the ECB.
They have also imposed salary spending limits while director of cricket Paul Farbrace admitted Sussex might not sign overseas players for the three years after 2026, not just because of salary restrictions but the associated extra costs such as flights and accommodation.
