Ollie Robinson says it’s time to give something back to Sussex – and for him that means embracing his new responsibilities as captain of the County Championship team.

The 32-year-old accepts he might not have been an obvious choice to replace John Simpson, who has taken on a new role as club captain, among Sussex supporters.

But he will be a proud man when he leads the county out next Friday in their opening fixture against Leicestershire at Grace Road.

“I actually asked for it during my appraisal at the end of last season,” said Robinson – who knows that a productive summer could get him back in the England frame too.
