New chairman Ed Warner was happy to answer questions from Hove and Away members when he met the media for the first time at Hove last week. Here’s what he had to say … and thanks to everyone who submitted a question.

Hove and Away: Why are we recruiting players such as Joey Evison and we're not retaining the ones we've got?

Ed Warner: Look, it's a portfolio game. So without mentioning individual players, we've got to go from a £2.3 million salary cap to £1.8 million and we've got to put a competitive team out in three formats. How do you put that jigsaw together? Choices have to be made, and players will move on, and players will come in. We scale according to the restrictions we're given by the ECB. I don't want anyone to be in any doubt: they are completely sensible, understandable restrictions because we can't keep losing money. The restrictions are designed to help us break even. It just means that we've got to cut our cloth accordingly.
