Mark Robinson, the most successful coach in the history of Sussex County Cricket Club, will be named the club’s new Director of Cricket within the next 48 hours, Hove and Away can exclusively reveal.

And his first job will be to sort out the confusion surrounding the future of captain and leading fast bowler Ollie Robinson, who continues to be linked with a move to Nottinghamshire even though the club have received no official approach from Trent Bridge.

Mark Robinson, who turns 60 later this month, said he suffered from “imposter syndrome” when he succeeded Peter Moories as Sussex coach late in 2005. Moores had guided Sussex to their historic first Championship in 2003 before leading Lancashire and Nottinghamshire to more titles and twice taking charge of the England team.
