Kent all-rounder Joey Evison is joining Sussex from next season on a three-year deal.
The 24-year-old all-rounder has been at Kent for four seasons having started his career with Nottinghamshire.
Evison’s Championship stats – 2,561 runs and 92 wickets in 57 appearances – are not especially eyecatching but director of cricket Paul Farbrace believes he Evison is capable of kicking on and for his part Evison is looking forward to teaming up with Matt Walker again. Walker, appointed Sussex’s head coach last week, worked with Evison when he went to Canterbury.
Sussex supporters will remember one significant contribution he made against the county last year when he guided Kent to a two-wicket win over the Sharks in the Vitality Blast with an unbeaten 48 off 24 balls when his side seemed beaten. That victory eventually got Kent to the knockouts – at Sussex’s expense.
