As usual, Paul Farbrace didn’t sugar-coat things as he reflected on another dismal Sussex performance in the Vitality Blast on Wednesday night.
‘Not good enough’ … ‘very poor’ … ‘not acceptable’ … ‘a lack of application and guts’. Those were just some of the words the director of cricket used to describe the 76-run hammering against Warwickshire. A sixth defeat out of eight effectively ended Sussex’s chance of reaching the knockout stages with four games to play.
A month to forget
June should have been the month when Sussex pushed on. They had two home games to cement their County Championship title challenge and six matches in the Blast to embellish their credentials as a genuine contender to at least reach Finals Day again.
