Paul Farbrace might as well have been discussing his own job description.
“I don’t think this is a job for a first-timer. This is going to have to be someone who has a few battle scars, who can get stuck in and who won’t be surprised by what’s happening. They also need to improve the players and the team because we’ve reached a certain level and we want to kick on, not just stand still.”
Instead he was talking about what the county are looking for in Sussex’s new head coach, whom they hope to have in place by the end of July.
Farbrace will be part of the interview panel which will start meeting candidates next week after confirming on Friday that he is staying on as director of cricket, albeit on a part-time basis, from October.
