It is time to avert our gaze from Sussex’s misfiring T20 batters and cheer ourselves up by celebrating Ollie Robinson’s return to the England Test team
Ollie looks certain to play in the first Test against New Zealand at Lord’s on Thursday and in all probability will take the new ball. It will be his first appearance since he hobbled off the field at Ranchi in February 2024.
At the start of the season he promised to “knock the door down” to regain his England place. Well, he hasn’t quite done that. But he’s loosened its hinges. He has taken 18 wickets at 26 in Sussex’s impressive start to their County Championship campaign.
