If things had worked out differently Ari Karvelas would have been coaching cricket to the pupils of Solihull School this week.
Instead the 32-year-old was schooling Nottinghamshire's top order during an outstanding spell on day three at Hove that has given Sussex a great chance of beating the champions and boosting their hopes of a top-three finish.
Karvelas’s four wickets either side of tea included his 100th in first-class cricket in what is only his 34th match.
He got the key scalp of Joe Clarke for the second time in the game during what could prove to be the matchwinning spell of 3 for 17 in ten overs after tea from the Cromwell Road end.
