Updated: Tom Clark keen to have a long-term future at Sussex - as a genuine all-rounder

The 25-year-old, who made 85 on an absorbing second day against Somerset in the County Championship at Hove on Friday, signed a new contract last month but only committed himself until the end of next season.

But Clark, who is trying to press his claims to be a genuine all-rounder by bowling more, would like to remain at the county beyond then.

“I haven't signed just because I want to be here for a year,” he said. “I've signed for a year to try and be here long-term. But obviously, if the situation is poor this time next year and they can't re-sign me, or it looks like there's not much future for the players, then I've got to reassess my options.
