Another day another defeat – this time by the comfortable margin of 51 runs against Hampshire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Hove on Sunday.
That makes it 15 defeats out of 19 in white flag – sorry, white ball - cricket this season, six beatings out of seven in the ODC following nine out of 12 in the Vitality Blast.
But I left Hove on Sunday night with a broad smile on my face. Perhaps the strong sunshine has made me a little soft in the head.
Despite the result – and these are exceptional and difficult times for Sussex County Cricket Club – there was much to feel good about on Sunday, not least the sensation of forgiveness and reconciliation in the balmy air.
