Ed Warner, the former head of UK Athletics, is the new Chair of Sussex Cricket.
Warner, who has lived in Sussex since 1999, is the high-profile replacement for Jon Filby, who resigned in February when the extent of Sussex’s financial problems came to light. His appointment was ratified at a board meeting on Thursday. Interim Chair Sir Rod Aldridge described him as the ‘outstanding candidate’.
Warner was chairman of UK Athletics between 2007-17, leading the organisation through the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics and the 2017 World Athletics and World Para Athletics Championships in the capital. He also leads GB Wheelchair Rugby and was appointed an OBE in 2012.
