As they headed back down the M1 on Monday night, Sussex could reflect on a positive four days at Headingley.
They didn’t beat Yorkshire – and there were a few nervous moments early in their second innings when it looked as if they might lose – but in the end a benign pitch frustrated both bowling attacks.
When Jack Carson fell early on day four to effectively leave Sussex 35-3 they were vulnerable with the ball only 20 overs old.
