Charlie Tear has come into the Sussex side for Friday's County Championship match against Surrey at The Oval.
The 21-year-old replaces Tom Price, who has not recovered from the twisted ankle he suffered on day three of last week's match against Yorkshire.
It is the first change to their Championship team Sussex have made this season, and will be Tear's fourth first-class appearance for the county.
The Sussex players trained at The Oval on Thursday but Price did not take any part in Wednesday’s workout at Hove and his fitness has been carefully monitored with matches against Leicestershire (at home) and Somerset coming up before the start of the Vitality Blast.
