Paul Farbrace has tipped Richard Dawson to be England’s new Test coach following the sacking of Brendon McCullum.
Sussex’s director of cricket, himself a former assistant coach to the England team, has chosen Glamorgan’s Dawson at the top of a list of four county mentors who he believes are capable of doing the job.
Andy Flower, a three-times Ashes winning coach, is believed to be the preferred candidate, especially as England managing director Rob Key is clinging to power and cannot afford to make another mistake.
