On this evidence Robinson deserves an England call-up

I felt strangely ambivalent as I watched Ollie Robinson bowl heroically well for Sussex on the opening day of their Rothesay Championship match against Leicestershire at Hove on Friday.
I started the day reading my old colleague Ali Martin in The Guardian. Ali is one of the most respected cricket correspondents on the circuit. And he wrote a piece on Friday saying that Robinson, frozen out of the England Test team since February 2024, could be on the brink of an England recall.
What would that mean for Sussex, I thought? The side’s fast bowling resources are already severely stretched, with Sean Hunt and Dom Goodman out with long-term injuries and Tom Price missing the current game and the last one, against Surrey, with a sore ankle.
