When Lord’s echoed to the chant of ‘Oh Ollie, Ollie - Ollie, Ollie, Ollie, Ollie Robinson’ on Thursday it would have been music to the ears of the Sussex captain.
It takes a special performance to make spectators at the home of cricket indulge in football-style chanting but that’s exactly what Robinson produced with a triple wicket-maiden in the opening over of his first Test for more than two years on day one against New Zealand.
On Sky Sports’ coverage, Mark Butcher pointed out that Robinson was returning to the Test team for seventh time, having lost his place for form or fitness reasons.
