The Metro One-Day Cup returns on Wednesday and while it's a competition Sussex members and supporters enjoy they are unlikely to expect too much from their team.

Apart from an unexpected run to the semi-finals in 2022 Sussex Sharks have made little impact in recent years.

The following year Paul Farbrace came in as head coach and immediately made the 50 overs competition the lowest of his three priorities.

Although Sussex had Cheteshwar Pujara in 2023, for the last two years and again in 2026 they will be operating without an overseas player.
