No more moping – it’s time for action

The title might be too much to expect but Sussex are capable of improving on fourth last season in the Rothesay County Championship

Whoever you speak to among the Sussex hierarchy the message is the same.

The players have done their moaning and put aside any sense of injustice they feel at starting the season with a point deduction in all three competitions.

It’s time for action and when Ollie Robinson leads the team out at Grace Road on Friday for the Rothesay County Championship opener against promoted Leicestershire arguably Sussex’s strongest red-ball team for more than a decade will be behind him.

The likelihood is that whatever this team achieves – and club captain John Simpson genuinely believes they can win a trophy – it will break up at the end of the season. But that's something to concern us in six months, not now.
