More than just a tea boy. Paul Farbrace deserves his place as one of Sussex's best coaches of the last 30 years

“I just put the kettle on,” he said, after he stepped away from his role as Sussex head coach this week, though he will continue as director of cricket on a part-time basis while Matt Walker takes over the day to day running of the team.

Farbrace’s achievement in building a rare and vibrant team spirit at Hove, one which somehow managed to overcome the numerous problems of points penalties, player departures, England call-ups and countless injuries with no hope of replacements, will see him take his place alongside Peter Moores and Mark Robinson as one of the most prominent Sussex coaches of the past 30 years.
