The good news keeps coming for Sussex this week, even though they ended day one at Taunton in a less-than-ideal position against Somerset.
Having won the toss on a flat pitch Somerset closed on 335-5 and Paul Farbrace admitted after play that four Championship games in a row might be catching up with his weary bowlers.
But following Ollie Robinson’s recall to the Test squad on Wednesday after two years it was Henry Crocombe who had a spring in his step on Friday when he was named in the Lions’ squad for the forthcoming two-match series against South Africa A.
It’s been quite a week for the 24-year-old from Eastbourne, who was awarded his county cap last Saturday. Crocombe has 19 Championship wickets this season and has played in every game so far, bowling 147 overs. In contrast, last season he only appeared four times and sent down a total of 85 overs.
