Joey Evison is joining Sussex on loan for the rest of the season ahead of his permanent move to the county.

The 24-year-old signed a three-year contract earlier this month after deciding to leave Kent and link up for a second time in his career with incoming Sussex coach Matt Walker, whom Evison worked with at Canterbury.

Director of cricket Paul Farbrace has negotiated with Kent to take Evison for Sussex’ five remaining Championship games and it’s an arrangement that makes sense all round.

Evison had a spell with Leicestershire on loan earlier this season and bowled seven overs (1 for 19) against Yorkshire in June, but that was his last red-ball cricket.
