There is a selfless aspect to Jack Carson which we should include when we are counting the considerable aggregate of his all-round qualities.
The Sussex Sharks One Day Cup captain took the blame for being “too passive” following Friday’s four-wicket defeat by the Worcestershire Rapids, a result that means his team have now lost 14 of the 18 white ball games they have played this season.
Carson took issue with me when I suggested that his side’s 333-9 was only a par score on a flat pitch with a short boundary on the east side of the ground.
After he had concluded his media interviews I had a one to one with Jack and he told Hove and Away: “It’s hard to say that 333 was only par. You should win the game from there if you bowl well. We put them under scoreboard pressure.
