Jack Carson relishes end-of-season workload as Sussex prepare to host the champions

The end of season Championship schedule of six games in six weeks is testing the fitness and stamina of every Sussex player.
But the end is in sight with two games to go, starting against champions Nottinghamshire at Hove on Tuesday.
Injuries and England call-ups have tested the squad’s limits but for Jack Carson, the opportunity to bowl in a six-week red-ball block is one he has relished even though he admits he is suffering from a few ‘niggles’ as the campaign reaches its climax.
Carson is currently on 24 wickets compared to 30 in 2025 but he ought to have bowled more overs than 2025 (308) by the time Sussex walk off the field at the Utilita Bowl on Sunday week. He’s currently on 283.
