Paul Farbrace now has the job of waking up one of county cricket's sleeping giants Lancashire Eva Gilbert / Sussex CCC

"It really is mixed feelings because I've absolutely loved being at Sussex."

Paul Farbrace gave one final interview before he left Hove to join Lancashire as their director of cricket.

The news that Paul Farbrace was leaving Sussex was officially announced at 2.15pm on Tuesday but a few hours later he carried out his last job as director of cricket when he attended the end of season awards.

He spoke to the media afterwards and reflected on his four years at Hove.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my four years here at Sussex. It's been an absolute honour and a privilege. I liked the idea of the part-time role of director of cricket but with Matt Walker coming into the space to be the head coach and Keith Greenfield doing a brilliant job with the pathways I think there are a lot of good things already in place. The team's in a damn sight better place than it was a few weeks ago.
