There was some good news on the injury front for Sussex on Monday when Sean Hunt played his first competitive cricket of the season.
The left-armer suffered a recurrence of the elbow injury which first sidelined him for the final Championship game of 2025 against Worcestershire during pre-season.
But after more than two months of rehab Hunt bowled four overs, conceding 37 in a three-over spell with the new ball before returning to bowl the 19th over when he picked up the wicket of Middlesex’s top scorer Nathan Fernandes (73) to finish with 1 for 46.
Tom Price continued his comeback from an ankle injury but was expensive with figures of 0-54. On a flat pitch the visitors scored 219 for 4, but Sussex cruised to victory by six wickets with two overs to spare.
