Sussex go into the last day of their match against Somerset at Taunton on Monday looking in good shape to save the game.
That would mean an impressive start of three wins, two draws and one loss from their opening batch of six Championship games.
But another disappointing display from their batting line-up has opened a distant door for the possibility of a second defeat of the season.
Given the nature of the flat pitch, and the rain and bad light interruptions which have cut swathes of play out of the match, that would be represent massive underachievement.
