The fact that Sussex Sharks had long since been out of contention for the knockout stages of the Metro Bank One Day Cup didn’t deter plenty of their supporters from making the trip across London to Hertfordshire on Tuesday to sample the delights of Radlett CC for the first time.
Sussex have actually played there before, but that was back in 2020 when spectators were banned because of the pandemic.
Actually, watching them lose for the seventh time out of eight in the competition to the Group B winners Middlesex - this time by 92 runs - brought back memories of Covid times when Sussex started again and a raft of young players got an opportunity in the Bob Willis Trophy.
