I must admit that I’ve been a bit worried about Fynn Hudson-Prentice in recent months. Then, after watching him bowl so brilliantly for Sussex against Warwickshire on the first day of the County Championship match at Hove, I wonder why I’ve been stressing myself out.

The thing is I’ve always wanted Fynn to succeed since he returned to the club at the end of the 2021 season.

Sussex, after all, was his boyhood county. Then, at 20, he was released before eventually finding his way back to Hove club via stints with the MCC Young Cricketers and Derbyshire.

He had a strong 2023, when he won his county cap, played in every game and scored 879 runs at 48.83 as well bowling strongly on occasions.
