There were quite a few things Jack Carson probably didn’t imagine would occupy his thoughts when he began planning his first week as Sussex’s 50 overs captain.
He certainly wouldn’t have wanted an itinerary which has seen Sussex travel to Neath then Durham and back to Hove in the space of five days – with three One-Day Cup games to negotiate on that long and winding road.
Losing players to The Hundred was always going to happen, but a long list of injured players means that all the absentees together would form an XI capable of giving anyone a game in a 50 overs match.
