Berkshire batsman Johnny Connell trained with Sussex on Friday after taking a century off a full-strength Sharks’ attack at Horsham last week.

Connell struck 121 from 53 balls against the same bowlers that played in Sussex’s Vitality Blast opener against Essex last Friday and it won him plenty of admirers, including head coach Paul Farbrace.

Connell trained with the Sussex squad at Hove as the Sharks prepared for Saturday’s Blast match against Middlesex, although he was not named in the 15-man squad announced on Friday.
