Tom Clark – and Sussex – have been here before.

The 25-year-old started last season with a century in the opening Championship game before his red-ball form deserted him and he ended up being dropped.

But at Grace Road on Friday the evidence was a different Tom Clark, someone willing to trust his undoubted talent and play a bit more on instinct and definitely more aggressively.

His 101 helped Sussex end day one in a strong position as they made 361 before Ollie Robinson picked up a wicket before stumps to leave Leicestershire 15 for 1.
