As widely anticipated, Paul Farbrace today confirmed that he is to step down as Sussex’s head coach at the end of the season.

Farbrace has hinted strongly in recent weeks that his fourth season at Hove would be his last. “It has been a difficult decision, but it is one I feel is right all round,” he said in a statement issued by the club.

The 58-year-old joined Sussex in 2022 and implemented a five-year plan which he envisaged ending with the county challenging for the County Championship and having made two appearances at T20 Finals Day.

He got Sussex promoted back to Division One in his second season and they have made one appearance at Finals Day.
