Sussex have received a boost at a time of growing uncertainty after Tom Clark signed a one-year contract extension.
Clark is one of the players who was out of contract at the end of the season. Another, Henry Crocombe, signed for Surrey on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old made his debut in 2019 and has played 64 first-class games, scoring 2856 runs including five hundreds.
He has also turned himself into a useful medium-pace bowler and hard-hitting T20 batter. He slammed 79 off 29 balls against Kent in May before sustaining a knee ligament injury which will keep him out until the end of August.
