'An exciting addition': James Coles gets his first England call-up

Nine days after making the highest score of his career – 224 against Glamorgan in the County Championship – Coles has been named in the England squad for next month’s five-match T20 series against India.

It’s been quite the year for the 22-year-old, starting when he helped Sunrisers win the South African domestic T20 title.

In March, London Spirit paid £390,000 for his services in The Hundred and now, after impressing for England Lions against South Africa A earlier this month when he scored a match-winning 63 in the third match of the series, he has been named in England’s 17-man squad, which also includes Sussex teammate Jofra Archer.
