When Sussex beat West Indies in two days - and Jim Parks was nearly killed

We’re in the middle of World Cup fever and everyone’s recalling that famous football match played in the summer of 1966.

England’s victory over West Germany in the final was the greatest single moment in British sport. I watched a rerun of the entire game the other night – didn’t Alan Ball play a blinder!

But there was another famous triumph that summer. Sixty years ago, in June 1966, Sussex beat the awesome West Indies inside two days in what must rank as one of the finest performances in the hoary history of the club, with our own John Snow taking 11 wickets for just 47 runs.
